1 Week Old

The puppies are up and moving! They lurch around and stumble but are making a little progress towards walking. It is so cute to watch. Today I spent a long time handling each puppy. They are growing used to human contact and starting to settle down when held. We had some noisy puppies last night - they kept me up with their cries of woe....I wish I could figure out what they were saying! I will have two more precious days to spend full time with them. Wednesday I go back to work for a 7 hour work day with a 2 hour break to run home to take care of the puppies and Sequoia mid-day. This will certainly keep me busy!

Attempting to walk on all 4's

Just had to let everyone know, today at day 6, they are starting to walk on all 4's. It is so cute. They finally get up on all 4 legs and then fall over like drunks! Sometimes they manage 1 or 2 steps before falling over onto their side or back. I am trying to get a photo to put in the blog - but they fall over so quickly:) They are growing like weeds - right on schedule. No weight losses just constant gains. They are doing so well and momma Sequoia is doing superbly! She is such a good momma dog. Tomorrow will be 1 week! Hard to believe. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Thanks-Heather

Easter Puppies are Here!

I am thrilled to announce that we have 6 big beautiful dual puppies. 4 are boys and 2 are girls. Sequoia's water broke around 5 pm on Saturday 22 March. The first puppy (a girl) was born at 9:10pm. Then they continued until around 1am 23 March. We had a break in the birthing process so around 6 am 23 March we went to the Emergency Clinic for xrays and a fetal heart monitoring. All were a go so we did a "pit" shot. We completed our deliveries by Noon on Easter Sunday! It was fantastic. Sequoia just laid down and pushed out the next puppy - she was a Champion!

All puppies are healthy, large and vocal! I have not had any sleep since Saturday. So forgive this blog's typing.... I sleep in the same bedroom as the puppies - or try to - they can scream even at an early age when they get hungry! No shy retiring puppies in this litter!

Sequoia is being an excellent momma dog. She is really taking care of these puppies and feeds them it seems like 24 hours a day. It is going to be so much fun watching them grow.

Speaking of growing and watching - we are doing our Easter Photos on Thursday. I hope to get them on the website by Sunday. Call if you want to hear puppy's talking! It is so cute..... I never get enough of it.

Thanks-Heather

Easter Puppies are coming......

Just got back from the Vet. We are expecting possibly 9 puppies on Easter Day (lets hope it is day and not all night....)!!!!!!

We are so excited - hope you are too. Just a few of these are not spoken for yet so call me quickly to reserve your one-of-a-kind Sequoia Shiloh Shepherd! Our first litter was a huge success and we are expecting even greater things from this litter.

Well I have to go finish "fixing" or as Vince calls it "my neurotic rearranging" of the whelping room. We are just so excited. The next entry will hopefully be this weekend with news of lots of healthy puppies!!!!

Thanks-Heather
