The Big Move

Today we moved to the puppy room. The were very unsure of it at first but soon decided they like the space and newspaper! They have been playing non-stop for over an hour. They have lots of toys to play with but they prefer each other! I have a couple cute photos of the move to share. Tomorrow we start with ground up puppy food - the first step to solid foods! Just had to share this special day!

3 1/2 Weeks old

Today was a wonderful day with the puppies. First four escaped the whelping box, then two more followed later - it is a joy to see them learn and grow. This week they began to eat solids - Sequoia is doing the happy dance - we ate a double portion of 2nd Stage formula today at dinner! They are growing like weeds with fertilizer! We started to play with each other and with baby toys! They have learned to "ruff" and sort of bark. Vince is teaching them how to howl.....maybe not such a good idea since I sleep with them.....but all good Shilohs know how to howl together! Sorry about the delay in getting the pictures up for week 3. They are now up so go check them out. This weekend will be the puppies first visitors. This ought to be fun! And last but not least, we will move from the bedroom whelping box to the puppy room where they will have lots of room to play and grow. A full week if I may say so! The enclosed photos are of them eating their first solids.

3 week photos...

The puppies are growing so quickly. Today two decided to jump ship and leave the whelping box! Yesterday we had to go searching for a runaway puppy. She was sharing Sequoia's bed! All cuddled up in the blankets. Too cute for words. This weekend we started the 2nd Stage - which is a food/milk product for inbetween momma's milk and real food. It didn't go over to big. They prefer Sequoia's milk hands down! Can you blame them? Today's eating was a little better. It is a gradual slow process and when they are ready - they are ready! Tuesday is nail clipping night - oh boy....this is true precision work. Their nails are so tiny but oh so sharp. It is hard to believe that they are going to be 4 weeks old this coming weekend. Soon we can have visitors! BTW - The pictures should be up by Tuesday. Sorry for the delay.

Almost 3 Weeks Old.....

What a busy week! The puppies can see, hear and smell. They had their first toe nail trim. That was incredibly hard - they are soooo tiny but sharp! The grew out of their collars - all of them are about 4 lbs each. They are trucks- they never stop moving, even in their sleep. Sleep, what is that? They stay up all night talking and screeching. They can wake you up from a dead sleep. They are developing personalities now. They are starting to play fight too. Their walking skills are much improved. They can go a couple steps without falling now:) It is a marvelous time of growth. Can't wait to see the photos for this weekend. I hope to have them up by Sunday evening. I have posted two update shots of the crew hard at play and with Momma. Just look at how large they are in two weeks!

Almost 2 weeks old....

Ahhhh the smell of puppies! And the noise of puppies! They are just full of themselves as they change. Their eyes are open fully. Their hearing has just started to come apparent. They all weigh over 3lbs!! They are all a rich dark black with coloration on their feet and lower legs. Two have stars on their chests in white. Some have the facial markings coming through. It is all so exciting. Tomorrow we take our two week photos. These are hard - they still look like black moving blobs....pardon the expression. Hard to get much character in each shot but our fellow Sequoia Shepherds Shiloh owner (Basso - 1st Litter) photograher Julie Davison does a fantastic job. Sequoia is not the biggest fan on photo time and gets very possessive of the puppies! I can't wait to see the results. In the meantime I am posting a couple (if I can figure it out) shots.

Eyes are just starting to open...

Hi,

I am back to work one day and they decide to open their eyes today! What a great suprise to come home to. They have tiny slits opening up to huge dark eyes. Nature is amazing to watch. They are increasing gradually in weight as expected. I spent a couple minutes at lunch today playing with them - never get enough puppy smell! Then had to return to work. Everyone at work is following their progress as well. It is great to have a cheering section! They are still working on walking on four legs. I will have photos as soon as possible. We will do more photos of all the puppies this weekend. We will try to get them posted by Sunday evening.

Thanks-Heather
